Melodie Hughes is currently completing her articles with Bomza Law Group's corporate immigration department. Having obtained her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from the University of Ottawa, Melodie first developed an interest in international human rights, refugee, and immigration law while working for a sole practitioner of immigration and refugee law in the Ottawa area.

Melodie is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario's Faculty of Law, where she sat on numerous boards and committees, including the Student's Legal Society, the University Student's Council, and the Editorial Board for the Canada-US Law Institute Journal. In addition to extensive extracurricular involvement, Melodie was awarded the Dean of Law entrance scholarship, the Badun-Gillese entrance scholarship, and the Janet Stewart prize in immigration and refugee law. During her final year at Western, Melodie participated in the Faculty's international exchange programme and studied law at the Université René Descartes (Paris V). Following law school, Melodie was awarded a fellowship to work with the Appeals Chamber at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in the Hague, Netherlands. Melodie is fluent in English and French, and is conversant in Spanish and German.
