Expedited Processing for Sri Lankan Family Sponsorship Applications

Citizenship and Immigration Canada has recently announced that Family Sponsorship applications for Sri Lankan nationals will now be processed on an expedited basis in response to the current situation in Sri Lanka. The Ministry will not do this automatically, however. Applications will be processed expeditiously only where applicants or their lawyers access the CPC center or visa post to provide acceptable notice. Once notified by an appropriate party, the in-Canada Case Processing Center or visa post will identify and locate the file in its inventory and the applicants will have a higher processing priority assigned to their applications.

Where applicants are located in the northern region, visa officers will not have access to camps in the northern region and as such it is recommended persons with permanent residence (PR) visa applications may receive travel passes from Sri Lankan authorities and to be travel to Colombo.
