To be eligible to participate in an exchange program the applicant must be a bona fide student, scholar, medical graduate, trainee, teacher, professor, research assistant, or leader in a field of specialized knowledge or skill seeking entry to the United States on a temporary basis to teach, instruct, lecture, study, observe, conduct research, consult, demonstrate one’s skills or receive training.

Alternatively, the individual may be the employee of a multinational company coming to the United States to gain experience at the company’s United States office.
